Building Connections With One Another

Building Connections With One Another

Regional gatherings in San Antonio (Feb. 7-8) and Los Angeles (Feb. 22) brought Fellowship members and those exploring the Fellowship together for worship, teaching, prayer, networking, and a whole lot of joy!

At First Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, TX, we began with festival worship on Friday night in the historic sanctuary. Led by the FPC choir, organ, and other instruments, the focus of the evening communion service was on the joy of the Lord. Dave Peterson, recently retired from Memorial Drive Presbyterian in Houston, preached from Nehemiah and John.

Saturday we moved to Westminster Hall where Dave and FPC’s worship team began a day that highlighted different components of our life together in the Fellowship through presentations by Jim Singleton, Paul Detterman, Trey Little, Pastor of FPC, and Anna Kent.

At First Presbyterian Church, Hollywood, CA, the focus was on the Body of Christ, building up and reaching out. Members of the Hollywood Pres worship team led us in morning worship followed by Dale Bruner teaching on Matthew.

Scott Weimer, Pastor of North Avenue Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, presented the story of how that traditional, downtown, Presbyterian congregation followed the Holy Spirit into dynamic new chapters of ministry. Other presenters included Paul Detterman, Dan Baumgartner, Pastor of HPC, Anna Kent, and Jim Milley/Ken Baker who highlighted a dynamic partnership between the Bridges Ministry and San Fernando Presbytery.

Both gatherings included breakout sessions on missional ministry, Mission Affinity Groups, resources for the debate on Christian marriage, and a presentation by leaders of the Presbyterian Foundation.
