Polity Task Force Meeting this Week

Polity Task Force Meeting this Week

In response to the enthusiasm generated at the August Gathering of The Fellowship of Presbyterians, a group of dedicated people have been investing many hours considering the polity of the new Reformed body, including structure, expectations, accountability, and discipline. This group is headed by David Dobler, Pastor to the Presbytery of Alaska, and includes David Lambertson, Rory Gillespie, Dana Allin, Michael Carey, Marnie Crumpler, Joe Farrell, and Emily McColl. As you read this post, they are currently meeting face-to-face in Colorado Springs to further refine and flesh out the various sections of their project. Our goal is to have their work on polity available for thoughtful review and discussion within the next several weeks.

Please join others in prayer for their meeting, their efforts, and their safe return to their homes and families.

Does it bother anyone else that there isn’t a Ruling Elder in the bunch?

Not listed (until now–our oversight) is Michael Carey, Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church Satellite Beach, FL. Thank you for catching that.

The work this amazing group is drafting is going to be available for thoughtful discussion and continued refinement by all interested and invested people in the weeks ahead, and ultimately under consideration by a room filled with elders, deacons, and yes, pastors in Orlando.
