Theology’s Power to Unite Us

Theology’s Power to Unite Us

The Fellowship Community’s Third Annual Theology Conference is in the books. Over the next several weeks it will be shared by video. Each week you will receive an email with a link to the video of one of the presentations. Each will be accompanied by a few questions designed for use for group discussion, or for individual reflection. Over these weeks you will also receive emails that provide information about some resources for theological reflection.

Today’s video is of the opening presentation. It asks the question, “What Are We Doing Here?” The Fellowship Community is committed to nurturing a community whose members engage the content of our faith as an abiding practice. Why? This video explores the good reasons for being committed to theological conversations with one another.

Here are some reflection questions as you reflect on the theological work that faith in Jesus Christ calls us to engage

  • What do you find most energizing in reflecting on the faith?
  • Who have you found to be good friends for theological conversation?
  • What kind of work are we doing when we explore theology?
  • The presentation makes the claim that, contrary to the old saying “theology divides, fill-in-the-blank unites,” it is equally true that “theology unites.” How is theology a uniting force?
