  1. M Saint James says:

There was a draft of the Essential Tennets posted on this website in January which included the statement: “In choosing some, God rejects others”.

This specific statement seems to have been silently removed from the document. I’m wondering how that change in the theology occurred and why. My reason for asking is that I strongly objected to the statment and want to make sure it isn’t as silently returned to the document at somepoint as it was removed. Can someone clarify what happened and the process for updating or changing the tennets from here on out?

Good question. There is nothing secretive about this action. The statement was removed following the Orlando gathering by action of the Board of Directors. That action was communicated publicly in a letter from Jim Singleton that was sent by email, FaceBook, and, posted (still available) on this website, on January 25. The Board is responsible for stewardship of both the Theology and Polity until the next national gathering. At this point there are no plans for further changes until then.

Has ECO appointed a representative to speak to disaffected churches that are considering dismissal from the PCUSA?

  3. Donald Denton says:

What will be the status of clergy pensions and health insurance coverage from the PC(USA) when congregations or individual ministers transition from it to the ECO?

    • fellowship-admin says:

When a pastor transitions into ECO, you leave the Board of Pensions coverage. Pension is vested to that point in the PC(USA). ECO health and retirement benefits begin after a 60 day waiting period. For this reason, timing is very important. The 60 days begin when the ECO application is approved.
